Join our FOD Email List!
What a great way to connect with other FOD families (some professionals
too) across the world and share your questions, concerns and family
stories about dealing with an FOD. Note: Please be aware
that we are a very focused List SPECIFIC to FODs (as a primary
or secondary diagnosis) and not a broad based List dealing with
various other mitochondrial disorders. There are several other Lists
and Message Boards available on the internet that are not as focused
as this List and are open to the public. Our private List is open to
FOD Families (and family members) and professionals working with
FOD Families.
Our List is for emotional and practical support for FODs only.
Additionally, messages are sent worldwide to over 450 members. We have a very diverse group of members as far as ethnic background, religious beliefs, political beliefs, etc ~ and that is to be respected. However,this List is for FOD related issues ONLY and is not a faith-based public religious or political forum. There are other internet Lists for such a purpose. Please keep that in mind when posting your FOD concern or question.
Our Email
List is truly a 'Communication Network' for seeking and sharing
information on a variety of issues (ie., new research or treatments,
NBS etc), but mainly for much-needed emotional support. Please
note that 'Registering with our Group' on
the 'Contact Us' page is DIFFERENT than the
sign-up for the Email List, which is in the section below.
Many families
feel like they are the only ones out there dealing with these rare
disorders. Joining our email list below will SHOW you that you
are NOT alone!

BEFORE
SIGNING UP for the List ~ Please make sure to check
your Mail Options so you can receive List-type messages.
By default, most spam settings are set very high
(ie., on AOL). Also, by default, any mail that is diverted to the
spam folder is deleted immediately. AOL users (and possibly
other servers) can go to 'Manage Mail' and click on 'Spam controls'
to loosen them up a bit.
Then once
you sign up, put the new FOD List address in your own address
book and on your whitelist/safe addresses ~ you may also need to check your spam/junk
mail file if you haven't received any messages in your Inbox.

also note that your subscription to the FOD Discussion List
will need to be 'approved' before being activated. You
will receive a message from me (Deb), if I do not recognize
your email. Please respond or your subscription will not
be activated. There
may be a slight delay between signing up for the List and
getting 'approved' ~ so please
be patient. If you are not activated within 2-3 days, please email me at deb@fodsupport.org and/or fodgroup@comcast.net.
Also,
if you have an email filter (i.e. earthlink members), make sure you add my email addresses
(deb@fodsupport.org and fodgroup@comcast.net) to your 'approved'
addresses so I can contact you. I have also tried to email new
members in other countries (i.e. India) and have not been
able to get through ~ the emails are returned to me. So if
you are from another country other than the US or you are using a work address (that often filters addresses), please
KNOW that I have tried to email you but your server has blocked
my message for some reason. If it's possible, try opening
a free hotmail or yahoo address and then contact me or sign
up for the Email List with that address.
